Wards

A ward is a local LDS congregation, with each member belonging to a ward (or a branch in areas where there are fewer church members).1 Members are organized geographically and attend the ward near their homes. The ward is presided over by a bishop, and upkeep of the ward (administrative duties, teaching, etc.) is carried out by the members through volunteer service.2
