Stakes

A stake is a group of local LDS congregations, usually consisting of around 3,000-5,000 members in five to ten congregations1 led by a stake president.2 The name “stake” is taken from Isaiah 54:2, calling on the Old Testament imagery of the tent (symbolizing the LDS church) being held up by supporting stakes.3
